The Honorable William M. Schultz, J.D.

A former U.S. bankruptcy judge, Billy Schultz has more than 46 years experience practicing law as a business lawyer, trial lawyer, consultant, mediator and arbitrator. Since leaving the bench, he has represented lending institutions, both secured and unsecured, in workouts, restructurings and Chapter 11 cases. He represented bank groups in the General Homes Corporation and Global Marine, Inc. cases, among others, in which lenders obtained the maximum recovery. He also represented unsecured creditors committees in the Continental Airlines and United Refining cases in which creditors received 100 percent of claims plus interest.

A prolific lecturer and author, Schultz has presented to many organizations on audit committees, bankruptcy laws, lender liabilities and other issues, including Financial Executives International, Forbes Magazine CFO Forum, Federal Judicial Center, Banking Law Institute and various schools including LSU, University of Texas, Michigan State and University of Georgia, among many others. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Texas, United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, National Conference of Bankruptcy for Bankruptcy Judges and Association of Former Bankruptcy Judges.
