Kirk Michael served as SVP and CFO of Duke Energy, where he was responsible for finance, strategic planning, and program management for six global units with revenues of $5B and 5,000 employees. As the SVP and CFO of Globeleq, a private equity company that owned 3,000 MW of electric generating capacity in Latin America, Africa, and Asia, he completed the full ‘private equity cycle’ of taking the company from startup phase to its trade sale in four years. As the SVP & CFO of Indianapolis Power and Light, he oversaw the total finance function of the utility, was responsible for new supply project development, and held the role of Chief Risk Officer. As CFO for E3 Greentech Enterprises, he oversaw the finance function of the company as a startup company that focused on providing software and hardware to the Smart Grid business sector. E3 Greentech Enterprises sold its assets to Intelligent Energy Solutions, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MidAmerican Energy Holdings. As CFO for SouthWest Water Company, a private equity-owned water utility holding company, he oversaw Strategic Planning, Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, Accounting & Internal Controls, and IT.
Kirk was a Nuclear Submarine Officer in the US Navy, certified as a Nuclear Engineering Officer.
